Meet One of the Newest Members of the Kayal Team: Our Mako Robot
We’re Hosting a Meet-and-Greet on July 24
We’re extremely proud of the latest member of our surgical team and would like to show him, her, it off. Please join us on Wednesday, July 24, when we introduce our Mako robot to the public.
Dr. Robert A. Kayal and Dr. Victor Ortiz will describe how the Stryker Mako robot is used before and during some of our joint replacement surgeries, including total knee replacement surgery and total hip replacement surgery in Ridgewood, NJ, and beyond. Dr. Kayal and Dr. Ortiz will explain why the Kayal team decided to bring this remarkable piece of equipment into the operating room. They’ll discuss the advantages that surgery with the robot offers to patients.
At the Kayal Robotic Joint Replacement Center, we are committed to using innovative, sophisticated techniques and equipment to improve procedures, reduce pain, smooth recoveries and offer our patients the best possible outcomes. The Stryker Robotic Arm is part of our ongoing, tireless efforts to do just that.

The event will take place at Hackensack UMC-Pascack Valley. It will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. (provided by Stryker), followed by the presentation from noon to 1 p.m. Those in attendance will get the chance to see the Mako robot up close and personal. They’ll also get the opportunity to ask these two highly skilled surgeons questions about the Mako robot.
Can’t make it July 24? Don’t worry. We’re planning to do it all over again on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The public is invited. There is no charge, but reservations are recommended. To reserve your space, please call 844.777.0910.
It’s not surprising that many people are curious about a robot in the operating room. We’re sometimes asked if the robot is in charge. The answer is simple: no. You can rest assured that your surgeon is always in control. The robot is a valuable tool that the surgeon uses as a guide for greater control and accuracy.
If you need joint replacement surgery in Ridgewood, NJ, or throughout Bergen County, the Kayal Robotic Joint Replacement Center should be your first—and only—choice.
Specialized Training
Dr. Kayal and Dr. Ortiz have both undergone specialized training to use the robotic arm during total knee replacement, total hip replacement, partial knee replacement and patellofemoral replacement surgeries. The result is greater precision and control during surgical procedures. The robotic arm, combined with your surgeon’s skill and experience, can result in faster recovery time and better outcomes.
The Kayal team also specializes in total ankle replacements, total shoulder replacements and reverse total shoulder replacements.
