Welcome!Dr. Asad Ashraf is an orthopaedic surgeon who subspecializes in the comprehensive management of conditions affecting the upper extremity. He has received advanced training in complex procedures of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder for traumatic and degenerative conditions. He has expertise in minimally invasive techniques, such as elbow and wrist arthroscopy, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, and wide awake surgery. He also has a special interest in wrist, elbow, and shoulder arthroplasty procedures. Additionally, Dr. Ashraf brings unique expertise in small joint arthroplasty and the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis of the hand.
EducationDr. Ashraf completed his undergraduate studies at New York University where he was named a Presidential Honors Scholar. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Maimonides Medical Center where he served as the program’s Executive Chief Resident and Delegate for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He then completed the prestigious Tufts/New England Baptist Combined Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship. During this time, he had the privilege of working with team physicians for the Boston Celtics and Tufts University NCAA teams.
Professional AchievementsDr. Ashraf has been selected as an Emerging Leader of the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and is a recipient of the Daniel C. Riordan Scholarship from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). Additionally, he has co-authored over 60 research publications/presentations and has worked on implant design as an industry consultant. He has won multiple awards for his research, and has contributed to advancements in the field of Orthopaedics.
